Kitty Quaaludes
***Update on Charlie***
We're holding off on the drugs (elavil) to see if we can break his habit with one last thing - leaving bowls of dry cat food in each place he's sprayed. Supposedly cats won't spray when there's food present. We'll try this for a week or two, and see if it works. We did give him one dose of elavil on Saturday night, and it made him very sleepy. I'd hate to have him that way all the time.

Well, my dear Charlie, the time has come to put you on prozac. Or whatever prescription it is that Jeff is picking up at the vet's right now.
You see, we love you so much, shower you with attention, cater to your every whim (like filling up the bathroom sink with water so you can dip your feet in and splash around) and yet... you still spray the walls, our couch, and the carpet. We thought you'd gotten over this unfortunate behavior several times, and we've tried everything we could think of (putting food bowls near the affected areas, distracting you when you are about to spray, Feliway cat pheremone diffusers, etc.) Poor Jeff is tired of wet-vac'ing the house (walls, couch, carpets) every week.
So, you're about to go on a behavior-altering drug, which really makes me sad, but I hope it will make you happier, more calm, and less likely to point your little butt at the wall and do the shakey-shakey spray thing. And hopefully, it will make you calm enough to welcome two 4-6 month old babies into the house in a few months without completely wigging out. God, I hope so!

Erica, I just found your blog & loved reading the entries I missed. I will be sitting on the edge of my seat until your babies are in your arms. There are 2 very lucky kids in Guatemala, and they don't even know it yet. xoxo My best to you & Jeff,
Oh, Charlie's going to be a druggie, just like the rest of us. (this is going to be edited, isn't it? that's okay). I'd love to see a pic of Charlie lounging over the edge of the sink dipping his paws in the water - sounds quite luxurious.
Erica, would love to see Charlie dipping in the sink!
Good luck with the prozac......
Erica,
Hope the kitty prozac does the trick.
It's not funny, but your post cracked me up.
